Four college friends graduated in 2015 and have since spread out over the globe. To Paris, New York, Stockholm and Copenhagen. From being a tightly knit crew they have grown to only know the glossy surface of each other's lives.
Céleste suffers panic attacks every day following a life as an alienated member of the diaspora. Jonas' sense of insufficiency and his pursuit of appreciation has driven him to desperation and suicide. Jacob witnesses how toxic masculinity leads to the rape of one of his friends. Robin has started spinning faster and faster in to the world of drugs in the metropolis.
Neo-Europe follows the four friends as their annual reunion in Copenhagen closes in and tragedy is brewing. Turning facade into honesty seems unlikely, hopelessness into hope nearly impossible. Might it be that they have sought their dreams in the wrong place?

In a time when our lives are increasingly spent on observing, analyzing and interpreting ourselves - as well as tying ourselves to our own identity - Confessions embodies a cognitive dissonance: the overwhelming contradiction of constantly both doubting and affirming oneself. I believe that we by voicing our pains and struggles of subjectification might expose emotional, cognitive and social dissonances, as well as open ourselves up for new understandings and connections. We might even find ways of breaking out of our ceaselessly looping thoughts and inner tyrants. That is at least my hope.

We want to talk about mental illness and death but always with a conclusion of hope, love and a spirit of community. Talking from our own experiences with war, depression and suicide, we are telling a story about trying to overcome and coming together as four very different individuals, while making art that transcends each of us individually.
Neo-Europe is the 12th project within the last three years that we as directors and actors collaborate on. Our aim with this film was to create a concoction of based-on-real-life fiction, trap, music video, ambient pop, documentary and techno. To mix the worlds of today’s European upper middle class, middle class and ghetto class in a cocktail that visualizes the state of our continent and the everyday realities of mixed identities.
Neo-Europe is two weeks with the four members of multinational hip-hop group Capital Fluxus where #MeToo, diaspora life, youth drug culture, and the widespread sense of insufficiency are the centerpieces in a film about the hopes and fears of our generation.
