Through staged scenarios and found footage, in narratives oscillating between the fictional and the documentary, Jacob Schill’s practice interrogates ideals of individualism and self-realization. Characterized by a draw to overwhelm and a frontal cinematography, his films and video installations present as dizzying mirror-images of an age increasingly marked by hyper-connectivity, bewilderment and confessional self-expression. Schill’s works invite viewers to stay sutured, facing others and encountering themselves.
Born in 1993, Jacob Schill is a Swedish artist and filmmaker living in Copenhagen, DK. He holds a BFA from Valand Academy, as the youngest student to enter in over 40 years. Schill graduated in 2024 from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts under professors Jane Jin Kaisen and Agnieszka Polska.
